Description: This artwork depicts the now-extinct marsupial known as the thylacine (also called Tasmanian Tiger or Tasmanian Wolf). The last known individual of this species died in a zoo in Tasmania in 1936 (sadly, of neglect), though there are also unconfirmed reports of thylacines in Tasmania and parts of Australia to this day. I hope it's similar to the case of the Black Footed Ferret, in that an animal that was thought to be extinct, shows up again in the wild, and then are able to be protected with various conservation programs. However, as of right now, the thylacine is on the extinct list. For videos and pictures of thylacines, please visit arkive.org.
