Description: The title for this artwork comes from the lyrics of a song ("The Song for Icarus") I wrote with my band The Red Masque (which appears on the album, Mythalogue, released in 2013 through Beta-lactam Ring Records. In addition, a fold-out insert featuring this artwork is included in the packaging for the album.

"Flaming heart burns in my breast
Arms are raised to catch
From a great height
All the singed feathers
That fall down around me
Into the dark ocean I will go
Broken and burned
A lesson in humility
All I ever wanted
Was to touch the sun
To sing the song of eagles
To sing the song of one
Whose eyes are raised in rapture
and illumination
Instead this cold dark sea
Shall wash over me
If I were a phoenix bird
I'd take this flame
Inside of me
I would rival the sun
It would not outshine me
From a great height
I would burn"
